Quotation
Understand deeply the reason of things,
be moderate and be gentle in heart and manner.
I’ve appreciated this quote for some time now but seem to have trouble moving past the appreciation and actually living it.
Many things have a reason yet many times I don’t take the time to look for it. Often, I think, we can’t really see the reason until some time has passed. However, I also feel that if I just took the time to draw from my own experiences and the experiences of others, if I just looked hard enough, I’d see the reason. Somehow life often seems to busy for that kind of introspection.
Being gentle is very against my own human nature. I’m fairly outspoken, very opinionated and not very tactful. Attempting to justify it, I declare that it’s best to be honest. Honesty isn’t always gentle.
Ah well, lots to work on in my life! And yes, someday I’m going to have to read “The Book of Lao-Tso” and see if this quote is in there or not!

I, too, wish I could understand the things that happen to me WHEN they happen and not always AFTER! I’ve been trying to start the “gentle” process in my thoughts, because that’s where most of our actions originate.
Hi Regina, I got to see your sister at special meeting this weekend, and said hi, although I know she has too many people to remember. Just wanted to say hi to you too!
You are one of few people I know who would fall into the category of “gentle in heart and manner” and I think someone is being too hard on herself.
